Ok, we can't all be Nero....but what better way to end a decade than a nice long bath in such a seductive piece of marble!
(MGM Stone Ltd)
Bathtubs are a place we can decompress and solve the world's problems in a sea of bubbles.
...and if I can't have Nero's tub, this malachite one will do nicely.......
There are two types of people....those that shower and those that bathe...

I am a bather.....soaking my tired muscles in a scented tub with some good music is almost a ritual..
This Roman tub would really look good in my bathroom.....hmmmm,,...I am a Leo as well!
The Officina Profumo Farmaceutica in Florence, Italy is synonymous with pampering of the body.
Hammans are another form of relaxation and pampering of the body.
It is alleged that Napoleon signed over the Louisiana purchase to the United States from his bathtub.
Whatever your style, take time to usher in 2010 with a bath!

I didn't know that about Napolean...I love my bath.
Beautiful and informative.
Thank you.
Have a wonderful 2010 and I am looking forward to more Artful answers.

Ohhh, I'm a bather too! I've always wanted one of those old French copper tubs, they look so luxurious, and able to completely cover oneself in warmth...
Happy New years!
Hugs

thanks for the comments! Hope you both have a productive 2010.
I'm in transition even as we speak. Always been a bather, this week I am taking out our only bathtub and putting in a shower. At 60, I am looking to 70 and think it will be safer. I used to say: hot tub, glass of wine a little Puccini could cure anything. Will be hard to drink wine in the shower! Hoping your new year will be bold and colorful
HBD-we were separated at birth!LOL! Puccini and bathing are a must with me! I completely understand about looking to being older. You are making a smart move.Happy New Years to you.
I am so into baths.Makes me feel luxurious and I just love it, even when I'm in a hurry. Now to have a bathtub like these pictures would be heaven.
Angela! I love your blog! Everything I cook from your site is a winner! Thanks for stopping in.
I hate baths but I love the looks of the copper tubs. I would love one just for the aesthetics of it.
Beth,
Thanks for representing the "shower people"! Yes, that copper bath is fantastic enough to be sculpture..
I would so prefer to be in Florence buying luxury bath products for one of these luxury baths than getting ready to change the ink in my printer. It's only a little after 10 and I already miss my luxuriously lazy lifestyle. But - one of my favorite quotes is staring back at me on my desk - "Imagination means nothing without doing." Charlie Chaplin
So here I go...........
Diving into the New Year...and wishing you a very Happy one, Theresa.

There's nothing like a good soak - especially if your tub is as gorgeous as these! Thank you for stopping by my blog. (I worship art historians, by the way!) Happy belated new year!
After that game last night hope you are in the tub, I hope the Puccini is on and the wine is at hand. Bummer!
HBD- sigh.....last night was tough...yes, lots of Puccini is necessary at this time ;)
